FLORENCE April 15, 2010 - Final preparations objectives for the week of Shakespeare British Institute of Florence: the 2010 edition of el program of cultural events dedicated to his year q Merchant of Venice, will be held from 19 to 22 April in the historic Library Har old Acton, for the occasion in extraordinary opening to the public.
Conferences in contribution and theater will be the central events of the week and will see students as guests and PhDs as well as professors from all over Italy. During these days dedicated to the famous English writer, there will be room for the screening of films by Lubitsch in Radford, inspired by the work "The Merchant of Venice", strictly in English, and for the public reading of the text and full dramatically during which anyone may intervene liberament e.
The week will open on Monday 19 April 18 with "The Merchant of Venice : Inside the Outsider , with analysis of drama troupe who will examine how FESTIVAL which the performance of actors influence the viewer.
Then continue with the conference on Tuesday 20 "Shakespeare and His Contemporaries" (Shakespeare and his contemporaries), c he will be held in the Hall of Ferragamo Harold Acton Library and interventions that will extend from the Bard's works in more general topics related to the historical period and cultural reference to the influence of these works on the contemporary world. The conference will open at 9.30 am with a welcome by Vanessa Hall-Smith, Director of the British Institute of Florence, and the teacher will intervene Pugliatti Paola (University of the University of Florence) Professor Keir Elam (University of Bologna) and Professor Fernando Cioni (Università University of Florence). Participate as speakers leading scholars and experts of the most prestigious Italian universities.
Wednesday, 21 to 18 will be the turn of to conference za " A lover or a tyrant? Performing The Merchant, "exploration of the complicated connection between pleasure and determination set out by Kate McLuskie, director of the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Apone. This will be followed at 20.30 the film with Al Pacino in Michael Radford's "The Merchant of Venice " (2004).
events in honor of Shakespeare will conclude on Thursday, 22 with a double event: the film will be screened at 16 "To Be or Not to Be " sublime comedy by Ernst Lubitsch (1942); to 18 will then be the time when the public will have the opportunity to be the protagonist of the scene by reading or just listening to the drama.
All events are held at the British Institute Library Harold Action, Lungarno Guicciardini 9. Participation is free and open to everyone.
